Parish Life

The heart of parish life at St. Matthew's is the celebration of the Eucharist. We are a unique and vibrant community of faith and, at the same time, a part of the universal Catholic Church. Our parish offers a variety of ways to be part of this Catholic family of faith.

In addition to the celebration of the sacramental life of the Church, parishioners are invited to consider how they might participate in various liturgical ministries, such as singing in our choir, or serving as a lector, altar server, or as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Parishioners are also called to discern how they can best serve the poor and marginalized through ministries of social justice - visiting the sick and homebound, providing bereavement ministries at funerals, serving the homeless, and feeding the hungry through our parish food pantry.

Faith formation is also vital element of the Catholic life. We continuously grow in knowledge and understanding of our faith in Jesus Christ and the Church. Faith formation opportunities can lead to a more intimate relationship with our God, as well as with the Church and our family, friends, neighbors, parish, and community. St. Matthew's Parish religious education provides faith formation for our children. Yet all of us - not just children - are called to grow as Catholics. We encourage you to continue exploring more about our Catholic faith.

Keep up to date on all that is happening in our parish. Check out our weekly bulletin for updates on all that we do at St. Matthew's Parish

Our parish community has a rich history in East Stroudsburg. We were founded by faithful people who worked hard, trusted the Lord, and gathered together weekly at the table of the Word and Eucharist. This legacy of faith at St. Matthew's continues today and into the future!

We hope you'll also enjoy viewing photos of our parish community.
